Bouncy balls are normally round, so that they rebound in reverse direction of impact. With the diamond-cut of this product, there isn’t a uniform direction of impact, so the rebound can occur in other directions than opposite the impact. While it’s theoretically plausible to slam down the ball at the exact angle providing for immediate return in the exact opposite direction, it’s more likely that the irregular surface redistributes forces so that the ball bounces away in a completely new direction.
